5 Fall Camping Tips

Man standing holding Eureka Kohana 4 Tent in Carry bag

Auburn leaves are popping up overnight, pumpkin spice is being added to coffee orders, and the air is crisper than the apples we’ll soon be picking.

That’s right– fall (the best season of all) is upon us. While we welcome this seasonal change with open arms, we also want to make sure that our camping set-up is as ready as we are for the shorter days, and cooler nights. Below, you’ll find some helpful tips that will get you geared up for fall camping!

1. Your tent is your temporary home– make it a warm one

Like we said, fall air is crisper, and the nights are colder. Having a tent with a full coverage rain fly is an added layer of insulation, and will ensure that your time spent under the stars is as warm as the spiked camp-coffee you’re drinking.

Some of our favorite tents for fall:

  • The Kohana Tent is a perfect tent for fall nights–offering that necessary layer of warmth through the full-coverage, durable rain fly. The Kohana is made to withstand cold nights, while still maintaining comfort.
  • The Assault Outfitter Tent is sturdy in every season– inspired by US Marine’s combat tent, this tent is built to withstand wind storms, rain storms, snow storms, etc. With its full-coverage Storm Shield rain fly, and heavy-duty zipper functions, the Assault Outfitter will keep you and yours cozy in all weather.

2. Soup/stew season is here!

There is nothing better than a piping hot bowl of the heartiest stew to get you in the fall mood! Break out those fall recipes, and take them on your next camping trip! With our favorite two-burner Ignite Camp Stove set up on the tailgate, and that family recipe pulled up for reference, it's bound to be a fall night to remember.

Our favorite fall stew? Easy. Southwest Turkey Stew.

Our favorite fall soup? Also easy. Tortellini Kale Soup. (pro-tip for all the meat-eaters: add italian sausage for even more flavor.) ***chef’s kiss***

3. Add some fall-inspired *spice*

In the same category as piping hot soups and stews, we have piping hot spiced (and spiked) drinks of all sorts! Apple ciders, mulled wine, hot toddys, and pumpkin spice chais, are just a few of the best seasonal cocktails. While that stew is cooking on one burner, crank up the other burner on the Ignite Camp Stove, and get a fall-inspired cocktail brewing!

4. Get your body off the frosty ground– cots!

It’s the season of frost, and trust us, you’ll feel it in your bones. We recommend that our campers give their fall set-up the *lift* it so desperately deserves. Replacing that flat, worn-in sleeping pad with a comfortable, body-fit cot will keep your body temperature up, as well as your camping spirit. The Camp Cot is the easiest, one-minute set up. And for extra comfort? Put that sleeping pad on top of your cot. You’ll sleep like the royalty we know you are.

5. Cozy company

It’s true what ‘they’ say– it’s all about the company you keep. So grab your favorite campers, pull up your Tagalong camp chair, throw a down blanket over your camping crew, and cuddle in. While the sunset illuminates the red, orange, and yellow aspen leaves, and the stars settle into the sky, you’ll clank your camp-cocktails together, and cheers to the best fall night.
