The Quick Guide to Gourmet Camping Breakfasts

Mornings on a camping trip are meant to be enjoyed by a campfire or for heading out into the wilderness with a fishing pole, backpack or camera. Why spend precious time cooking breakfast when there are so many fun shortcuts to that 'most important meal of the day'? A bit of easy preparation at home is key to making it quick, simple and gourmet at the camp site.Gourmet Camping Breakfasts
Here are planning, packing, and preparation lists for a three-day sample of our favorite dee-licious and satisfying gourmet breakfasts.

Before heading out on your camping adventure, prepare and pack the following in your cooler:

  • Gourmet Sausages
  • Fry up some bacon and sausage at home. Chop some of it for Hearty Scrambled Omelet recipe (see below)
  • Scrambled raw eggs (enough for all campers on Morning One) in container
  • Shredded Cheese (Hearty Scrambled Omelet)
  • Chopped onions, broccoli, peppers, mushrooms or other vegetable favorites (Hearty Scrambled Omelet)
  • Pancake batter or an aerosol can of pancake batter
  • Pre-cut fresh fruit
  • Yogurt
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Juice
  • Milk
  • Butter

Stock up your dry food bin:

  • Favorite bread, croissants, rolls
  • Granola/Cold Cereal
  • Instant Oatmeal
  • Dried Fruit
  • Chocolate chips
  • Cinnamon
  • Hot Cocoa mix
  • Instant Coffee
  • Tea bags
  • Shelf-life milk
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Juice
  • Seasonings
  • Tabasco or other spicy condiment

MORNING ONE
MENU

  • Hearty Scrambled Omelets
  • Croissants (or other favorite bread or roll)
  • Cut-up fruit
  • Cocoa/Coffee/Tea

Supplies

  • Cooking Stove
  • propane
  • pot
  • pan
  • spatula

Ingredients

  • Water for boiling
  • Cocoa mix
  • Instant Gourmet Coffee
  • Tea bags
  • Butter or Veg. Oil
  • Egg mix
  • Pre-cooked sausage or bacon
  • Shredded cheese
  • Chopped veggies
  • Favorite bread, croissant or roll
  • Cut-up fruit

First, boil a big pot of water. This is an essential daily morning ritual that takes care of cocoa, coffee, tea,and instant oatmeal. Any extra water is great for washing dishes!

Prepare drinks for all campers.

Next, let's make scrambled omelets!

Heat the pan. Add butter or vegetable oil. When hot, toss in your pre-chopped veggies  and stir. In about two minutes, add your scrambled egg mixture and stir. When the eggs are almost cooked, season and add pre-cooked chopped bacon or sausage and shredded cheese. Turn heat down (or off) to prevent over-cooking.

Have campers bring their plates with their bread choice. Serve eggs with hot sauce or other favorite additions. Garnish with fresh fruit.

MORNING TWO
MENU

  • Smiley face pancakes
  • Roasted Gourmet Sausages
  • Juice
  • Cocoa/Coffee/Tea

Supplies

  • Skewers for camp fire
  • Cooking Stove
  • propane
  • pot
  • pan
  • spatula

Ingredients

  • Water for boiling
  • Cocoa mix
  • Instant Gourmet Coffee
  • Tea bags
  • Butter or Vegetable Oil
  • Pancake batter
  • Chocolate chips
  • Favorite jam or maple syrup
  • Gourmet Sausages
  • Juice

This morning, gather your logs and make a campfire! Remember to boil a big pot of water on the stove.

Prepare drinks for all campers.

Pass out skewers and gourmet sausages. Everyone gets to roast sausages on the open fire (Hint: If a campfire is not in the picture, sausages can be cooked in a pan on the stove).

Next, it's Happy Pancake time!

Heat the pan. Add butter or vegetable oil. Pour pancake batter in pan to make 3? pancakes. When bubbles form and pop, flip pancakes over, adding chocolate chips to make eyes noses, and smiles. Serve 'em up plain or with jam or syrup.

Finish off with fruit juice.

MORNING THREE

Menu

  • Gourmet Instant Oatmeal, Granola or favorite cold cereal
  • Dried fruit (Apricots, cranberries, pears, apples, raisins, etc.) and /or fresh fruit
  • Hard-boiled Eggs
  • Yogurt and/or Cottage Cheese

Supplies

  • Cooking Stove
  • propane
  • pot
  • pan
  • spatula

Ingredients

  • Water for boiling
  • Cocoa mix
  • Instant Gourmet Coffee
  • Tea bags
  • Granola
  • Yogurt
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Instant Oatmeal
  • Dried Fruit
  • Fresh Fruit

Boil water and prepare drinks for all campers.

Lay out a breakfast buffet bar with Granola, cereal, milk, dried fruit, fresh fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese.

For oatmeal lovers, add water to instant oatmeal. Stir in chocolate chips, cinnamon, and dried fruit to make a gourmet treat.

It's so fun and easy to make a quickie gourmet camping experience. A little bit of planning, prepping and organizing makes all the difference. Food can be an essential and memorable part of a camping experience, so have a good time and enjoy!
